As ITMA 2003 draws to a close
today, we are delighted to announce that as at 6pm on 28 October
there have been a total of 124,910 visitors – an average of
17,800 through the doors each day.
50% of the visitors have come from Europe, and almost 25% from
Asia/SE Asia and the Middle East. 60% of all visitors have been of
Director level and above.
Contrary to earlier predictions by some people, visitor numbers
from the Spinning Sector have not been adversely affected by the
cancellations of the Saurer and Rieter groups, and this sector is
the second strongest in the show, with announcements of major
orders by several exhibitors. This sector was only surpassed by
Weaving for the number of visitors.
It is also particularly encouraging that the percentage of
visitors from the Knitting Sector is identical to that of ITMA 99,
further evidence of the superiority and strength of the ITMA
brand.
Outside the UK, the leading visitor country has been Turkey,
followed by Germany, Italy, India, France and Pakistan.
Kurt Honegger, CEO of the Textile Finishing Division, Benninger,
Switzerland stated - ‘We are more than happy with our sales
results at ITMA 2003. We have seen high quality visitors from the
Americas, Asia and Europe and there has been a good reception to
our new products. It was the right decision to come to Birmingham’.
And a final comment comes from Heinrich Trützschler, Managing
Director of Trützschler, Germany -‘ITMA 2003 has been a
successful show for us and better than our expectations. The
organisation and the venue have been very good and the quality of
visitors is high - they are not just looking, but buying’.
Herr Trützschler is also Chairman of the Textile Machinery
Division of the VDMA (German Engineering Federation), which will
be organising the next ITMA in 2007 at the new exhibition halls in
Munich. Herr Trützschler went on to state -‘We are glad that
CEMATEX took the decision in favour of Munich for ITMA 2007.
Munich is central to Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria and
we believe that visitors will enjoy coming to this city.
Announcing ITMA 2007 now is a clear signal to those companies that
decided not to exhibit this time that we are all standing firmly
behind the exhibition’.
And finally …. on behalf of the ITMA 2003 Organising Committee I
should like to thank exhibitors and visitors for their support. We
hope that you have had a successful show, and CEMATEX looks
forward to welcoming you to ITMA Asia which will be held from 17
to 21 October 2005 in Singapore.
